One of the most important things to us is the welfare and happiness of the mums and stud dogs that produce our puppies. The care and love given to Banksia Park dogs is evident when you visit and see the dogs and puppies come bounding up to you with tails wagging. Then you look around and see the dogs living in huge grassy pens with shelter and plenty of fun doggie toys to play with. This, along with a doggie friend in their yard, and human companionship right through the day, certainly makes for a very happy and content canine. After many years of inspecting breeders with sub standard facilities and unethical breeding procedures, it was like a breath of fresh air when we arrived at Banksia Park ten years ago, and met Colin and Matt.
The mums at Banksia Park are bred strictly in accordance with regulations, in many ways exceeding the code of practice guidelines on the care for their dogs and puppies. The mums are re-homed after de-sexing and training, at 5-7 years of age. Some of the mums though, Banksia Park loves too much to part with, and are de-sexed and live out their retirement, wandering around free on the 220 acres of parkland at Banksia Park!
Mums whelp in purpose built, heated facilities, and have access via a doggie door to an outside area, so they can get a quick break from their young pups. Food consists of Hills Science Diet and fresh meat, and the vet visits every week. Absolutely no corners are cut at Banksia Park.
